Tips
Not sure what to do for the long weekend? May we suggest a staycation. Not only are they more affordable, but they can make you fall in love with your neighbourhood, city, town and/or region all over again. We may be a little biased since we live locally but Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph, Cambridge and the Townships have lots to offer. Hopefully the weather clears up for the long weekend, but if you’re okay dodging a few raindrops, here are a few things you and your family can do in the Region:
Head to a farmer’s market and support your local farmers, makers, and small business owners. Here are a few of our favourites:
St Jacob’s Farmers Market
Guelph Farmers Market
Elora Farmers Market
Kitchener Farmers Market
Aberfoyle Antique Market
Cambridge Farmers Market
Work on your swing and spend some time on the course. Here’s a list of public golf courses open this weekend:
Springfield Golf & Country Club
Victoria Park East Golf Club
Merry-Hill Golf Club
Wildwinds Golf Links
Cambridge Golf Club
For all our arts and film fanatics out there, this one’s for you. The Grand River Film Festival is running over the weekend, you can watch the featured films from the comfort of your own home through their website until May 22nd. If you’re around Victoria Park on Monday, the Kitchener Musical Society Band is playing a concert. There’s also a few concerts, plays and recitals this weekend, you can see a list of them here.
Local parks and conservation areas are also a great way to get the kids out of the house and discover the gorgeous nature we have around us. Try venturing out of your neighbourhood or city and see another part of the Region.
