Welcome to Brigadoon, one of the most sought-after neighbourhoods in the south end of Kitchener.
Built to accommodate growing families, the homes tend to be larger and surrounded by mature trees on a dense network of streets and cul de sacs. This upper to middle-income neighbourhood borders Huron Road and Homer Watson Road on the north side, with farmland and forest on the south. The neighbourhood has an active community association to ensure the many young families in the neighbourhood will find their sense of community.
The housing in Brigadoon is unique. The area is entirely residential with quite a mix when it comes to age. Some homes date back to the late ‘60s, sitting on large lots with plenty of space and privacy between neighbours. These homes are a mix of bungalows, 2 storeys and A-frames. Another portion of the neighbourhood is denser, made up mostly of 2-storey and split-level homes built in the ‘80s. Then in the south end of the neighbourhood, you’ll find brand new construction developments of 2-storey detached homes and townhomes. In more recent years, the neighbourhood has seen a lot of redevelopment, with the original homes from the ‘60s being torn down and replaced with estate properties. The landscape of the neighbourhood has changed over the years, but the popularity of the neighbourhood has stayed consistent.
Nature areas are abundant in Brigadoon, including Brigadoon Woods, Strasburg Creek, and Brigadoon Park. Not to be forgotten, Hearthwood Drive trail and natural area is another wonderful greenspace to enjoy. Residents are also just a short distance from Huron Natural Area.
Public school students will attend Brigadoon for JK-6 before attending Doon for grades 7 through 8. Lastly, they will attend Huron Heights to complete their high school education. Catholic school students will attend St. Kateri Tekakwitha before attending St. Mary’s for their high school education.
