Kiwanis Park map graphic

Tucked away on the edge of the city, encompassed by the Grand River, is the neighbourhood of Kiwanis Park.

Depending on the street, you may be in Kitchener or Waterloo, as the boundary for these cities runs right through the neighbourhood. Regardless, it is considered one of Waterloo’s most prestigious areas.

Before its major development in the mid-2000s, Kiwanis Park was considered almost rural with minimal and modest homes on large lots backing onto the Grand River. Today you will still find some of these original homes, mixed in with large 2-storey family homes, townhomes and multi-million dollar estates on one of Waterloo’s most expensive streets. Here you’ll find meticulously landscaped yards, vintage-style street lights on wide roads, and a community of residents that take pride in their neighbourhood.

The main attraction of this growing, family-friendly neighbourhood is certainly Kiwanis Park. While the lake-like swimming pool is the biggest draw to the park, you can also enjoy a walk or bike ride along the Walter Bean Trail, bring your furry friend to the leash-free dog park or have some fun at the playground. Round up your friends for a game of beach volleyball or soccer at the sand courts and athletic fields, or have a picnic under one of the many shelters available throughout the park. Various canoe launches are also available for you to get out and explore the Grand River. During the winter months, keep active by skating on the outdoor ice rink or cross-country skiing through the park. With three additional neighbourhood parks, it is a great community for those who enjoy getting outside.

While Kiwanis Park does not offer a public school within its boundaries, students will attend either Lexington PS or Bridgeport PS for grades jk-6 before heading to Margaret Avenue SPS for grades 7-8. Students will then move on to Bluevale Collegiate Institute. Catholic school students will attend St. Matthew Catholic School before moving on to St. David Catholic Secondary School.

The Kiwanis Park neighbourhood is perfect for families who love spending time in nature.
