My family, originally from the Niagara Region, moved to Guelph in the early ’80s which is where my life began.
I spent the first years of my life living on a small farm in Erin, Ontario. I looked forward to Saturday mornings when we would come into the city, shop in the quaint shops downtown, enjoy the best hot dogs by the market square fountain, or take a ride on the train at Riverside Park. I loved it here. When my parents decided to move to Hespeler to be closer to work, I remember people saying “this city is a ghost town, but it’s your decision…”. As an 8-year-old, hearing that made me sad, but over the years I was fascinated and inspired watching this “ghost town”. It began to flourish; the population grew and the markets changed. I was inspired. Inspired by the impact of community and market growth.
Fast forward a few years, I became a mom and purchased my first property in my early 20s. You can imagine at such a young age, we didn’t have much money, but chipped away at renovating and making our house a home. Through those first experiences, I found a passion for real estate and knew that I wanted to work with others and be a part of the next step of their journey, however with 2 little ones, my family came first.
I spent the next 15 years building a career in business law for a national firm as a corporate law clerk within the Tri-Cities and across the country. I have had the amazing opportunity to learn and work alongside incredible professionals and have been fortunate to experience the legal side of the real estate and business industry.
It’s been 4 years since we made the move back to the Royal City. With my kids growing into independent young adults, combined with my foundation in the legal industry, I knew that this was it – the time to follow my passion. I truly live by the phrase “everything happens for a reason”.
